Upper Tamar Lake Sailing Club race report — Sunday, April 1

Cup One

JANE Chadney (Laser 4.7) may have started first but it was Nathan Pollard who got round Dam Green at the front of the fleet, where he stayed, but didn’t get far enough ahead to beat the Laser 4.7s once the handicaps had been applied with Jane Anderson yet again experiencing victory.

Paul Anderson in a full size Laser was third at the end but was demoted to sixth.

The Toppers did well with Vicki Duncalf finishing tenth on the water but brought up to fifth on corrected time.

The club Kestrel, a fast if awkward bird, had a rare outing, finishing lap one as high as fifth.

Winner: Jane Anderson (Laser 4.7); Runner-up: Jane Chadney (Laser 4.7); 3rd: Sue Murray (Laser 4.7); 4th: Nathan Pollard (Laser Radial); 5th: Vicki Duncalf (Topper); 6th: Paul Anderson (Laser Full); 7th: John Duncalf (Topper); 8th: Toby Tobias (Bosun); 9th: Adam Hilton and John Dabbs (Kestrel); 10th: Roger Heasman and Sally Wills (RS 200); 11th: Brian Pollard and Cilla Gilbert (Tasar)

Tamar One

THE outstanding performance was from the Bosun of Roger Heasman and Sally Wills, which came within 13 seconds of winning on handicap.

Again the bigger sailed Lasers (the Pollard brothers) couldn’t really compete with the small sailed ones despite James leading from start to finish.

Jane Anderson was again declared the winner for the third race in succession, despite the best efforts of Heasman and Wills.

Winner: Jane Anderson (Laser 4.7); Runner-up: Roger Heasman and Sally Wills (Bosun); 3rd: Jane Chadney (Laser 4.7); 4th: Nathan Pollard (Laser Radial); 5th: James Pollard (Laser Full); 6th: Linda Spiller (Laser 4.7); 7th: Robin Spiller (Streaker); 8th: Brian Pollard and Cilla Gilbert (Tasar)

Retired: Vicki Duncalf (Topper), Toby Tobias and John Duncalf (Bosun)

Grateful thanks were given to race organisers John and Nicky Buckett and Mandy Pollard for the photographs.
