WILL Heard represented St Joseph’s School, Launceston at the National Tennis Final Championships and was the only Cornish player to do so at the National Tennis Centre in London on Monday, May 17.
He played in both the under 13 singles and under 15 doubles where he partnered a pupil from Liverpool.
There was a record 41 entries within the under 13 singles and he won his box in the group stages serving 13 aces.
He then dropped only one game in the three knockout rounds before he reached the finals where he came runner-up in a closely fought match.
With a partner he’d never played with before, Will played up an age group in the doubles for experience and rather surprisingly found himself in another final.
Again it was a closely fought match, eventually going to a tie break which they unfortunately lost.
However it meant Will had earned another silver medal to round off a brilliant day for the Cornish youngster.
