TWO weekends of intensive competition proved no problem for three determined members of Launceston Swimming Club, as their hard work over the past season paid off at the South West Age Group Regional Championships. The competitions took place at Millfield School and the Olympic-sized Hengrove pool in Bristol. Just to make the qualifying times was a challenge in itself, but under the watchful eye of club coach John Rhodes, Connor Sleeman, Cody Sleeman and Molly Barton made excellent progress. For the second year running, Connor gained a national time — this year for the 200m individual medley — seventh place in the BAGCATS and personal bests in five events. Meanwhile, Molly just missed out on a regional time for her 100m backstroke and gained three personal bests — not a bad effort at all considering it was her first time at the event. Cody was also making her first appearance here, and gained a personal best in the 100m backstroke. The trio thanked John for his time and encouragement throughout the season.
