BUDE’s Phil Haggarty (second left) and Penzance’s Mark Thomas received a cheque for £2,000 after winning the Pallatrax Carp Open at Upper Tamar Lake on Sunday, March 25.

Their combined total of 19lb 4oz from the two fish they caught over the three days proved decisive, as they beat the runners-up, Jamie Woods and Richard Chalke from Dorset, by less than two pounds.

Wood and Chalke got £1,000 with third-placed Jason and Leanne McEvoy earning £500.
