MARCH was a very busy month for Bude Bridge Club, with several domestic competitions taking place.
The coveted John Ridding Championship pairs was won by Jane Koldewey and Chris Nichols, and the Club Championship Plate, held on the same night, was won by Linda Ashworth and Jacqueline Russell.
The monthly handicap pairs was won by Fiona Hargreaves and Brian Rogers, but the overall winners based on their best four results over the winter period were James Sim and Jacqueline Russell.
The final winter Wednesday afternoon session for improvers took place at the Parkhouse Centre on March 19, and a competitive duplicate pairs event was won by Alan Pearce and Phyllis Walter, who were playing together for the first time. They were congratulated on their achievment.
Other winning pairs during the month were Mary and David Hicks, Neil and Sarah Trenaman, Mike Newman and Christine Theobald, Chris Nichols and jane Koldewey, Alan Biggs and Ian Edwards, Chris Nichols and Steven Clifton, Mike Newman and Sheila Teale, David Clarke and Steven Clifton, and Linda Ashworth and Jenny Tregarthen.
Some members of the club attended the Cornwall Congress, held at Falmouth, where Alan Biggs and Ian Edwards were part of the leading Cornish team which came third overall — a terrific achievement.
Ian Edwards is relocating to Lancashire shortly and Bude Bridge Club wish him and his family well.
