LAST Tuesday the Seniors Section of Launceston Golf Club hosted the Duchy Shield Open 4BBB competition for gentlemen over the age of 60. Entries were received from 160 players representing more than 20 golf clubs from Cornwall, Devon and Somerset. The event was sponsored by Launceston Car Centre Ltd., Tinhay Building Supplies Ltd, Bloom Hearing Services, Paragon Leisure Ltd, Homeleigh Garden Centre, The Co-Operative and Phillip Warren. During the event over £250 was raised for the Cornwall Air Ambulance. The weather was generally good throughout the day, but a strong wind and some short, sharp showers challenged even the best golfers. For the full report, and a round up of the area news and sport, see this week's edition of the Post.
