Seniors section

THERE was no Seniors competition last week due to the weather, however the Monday saw Launceston enjoy their first away win of the season at Holsworthy.

Twenty-four intrepid pairs of golfers braved wind and intermittent heavy rain when Launceston went up to challenge the hosts at their pretty, North Devon parkland course.

One gust blew over the golf trolley belonging to Launceston’s Frank Arscott, snapping his umbrella. This mishap made little difference to Frank, first because the rain was mostly ‘horizontal’ making umbrellas useless, secondly because he and his partner won their match, and finally because Frank also won the nearest the pin prize for Launceston!

Launceston had reason to congratulate themselves after the match, this being their first ‘away’ win of the season. The overall score over the two legs was Launceston 7.5, Holsworthy 4.5.
