LAUNCESTON'S very own Imogen Sills, an aspiring young Olympian, will be competing for gold and glory against the UK's most talented youth sailors at the upcoming 2014 RYA Youth National Championships.

Over 385 of the country's finest youth dinghy racers and windsurfers will converge on the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy for five days of racing between Monday (14) and Friday (18) to do battle at what is regarded as Britain's premier annual Youth sail racing event.

Seventeen-year-old Sills, who is the twin sister of two time RYA Youth National Champion Saskia Sills, finished third female at the 2013 event in Scotland.

The Tavistock College student has since then racked up an impressive and consistent run of results, with the highlight being a gold medal at the 2013 EUROSAF Youth Sailing European Championships in Tavira, Portugal last summer.
