STUDENTS studying golf at Duchy College Stoke Climsland have just returned from a six day sports tour away from the stormy British weather to train and experience life in Portugal.

The students, who are studying the Sport BTEC Extended Diploma (Golf), were able to play on the Faldo and O'Connor Jnr courses in the Algarve and competed against golf students from Filton College, who were in Portugal at the same time, and Duchy College Tournament Golf College students who live in Portugal during the winter term.

The group stayed in five-star apartments at the Amendoeira Golf Resort in the Algarve region of Portugal. The week concluded with a 36 hole competition, followed by a dinner and prize giving. Student Will Stenhouse from Tavistock had a great first round of 74, and Ben Pill from St Austell went on to win the overall nett competition medal with rounds of 81 and 76.
