Launceston Tennis Club offers coaching and competition for players of all ages and stages of play, writes club coach, James Brobin.
Friday is our mini tennis night. Players aged eight and under play in mini tennis red, players aged 8-10 play in mini orange, players aged 10 and upwards play in mini tennis green and junior tennis.
The mini tennis is played on smaller courts with slower balls, allowing players a stepping stone process leading to the full game. This is great for coaches and pupils a like to enjoy the fun and education of of the game.
There are a few spaces for next term and we welcome new players.
Junior tennis and adults tennis sessions operate on a Monday and Tuesday offering coaching to players that are making progress within the game.
The coaching and competitions are in place all-year round to encourage progress within the sport.
Competitions exists every month for players in mini tennis, junior tennis and adult tennis.
There are ratings and rankings and a very transparent path to how you can evolve in the world of tennis at Launceston Tennis Club.
The club has four all-weather floodlit courts that are the envy of many a club in Cornwall.
We run many events including the Road to Wimbledon competition, allowing players the chance to play on the hallowed turf of SW19 every year.
The club has a very supportive committee looking to subsidise young players.
My objective as head coach is to get more players playing tennis and with more players we will produce better players.
I am looking to give a free under 8 place on a Friday evening next term, the first person to get in touch via email will receive this opportunity for their child in January.
