The Forest of Dean Gymnastic Club's annual championships was held this weekend with 137 entrants.

In the morning's novice one competition, eight age groups competed with several excellent performances, including 10-year-old, Sam Chilton who scored 12.00 on floor and 9.8 out of 10.00 on vault, winning gold in the process.

In the age five floor and vault section Poppy Hannam took the gold for the girls while Barney Walsh was gold medallist for the boys.

High scorers in the age six group were Holly O'Brien with 11.5 on floor and Bethany Searle with 11.4. Ashleigh Williams took gold with 11.30 and 9.5 on vault.

Chloe Heenan did well taking gold in the age eight girls section and winning floor with a score of 11.7. Kitty Gardner-Moller won the vault.

At Novice two in the age seven to eight group, seven- year-old. Kate Nanson-Cook had the highest overall score of the day, 21.7. Kate performed a tight, expressive floor routine to win on both floor and vault.

Winner of the age nine, Novice two girls' competition was Isabelle Beard whose well executed floor routine scored 11.7.

In the age eight and under boys section gold medallist Angus Phillips shone on vault with 10.75 while Theo Higgs won the age 10+ age group.

The competition was close in the age 11+ girls' competition with only 0.1 between Tegan Harding and Holly Ginley for gold and silver. Tegan just clinched it.
