Ladies Section

Winter League — Thursday, February 21

THE glorious weather continues producing good results from the ladies.

Last Thursday’s competition was the Winter League which was played over 15 holes.

Sarah Ross won on countback with 29 points from runner-up Liz Hicks. Sarah Ockwell was third.

Winter Trophy — Saturday, February 23

LADIES’ captain Elizabeth Swords was the winner when the Winter Trophy was played on Saturday with a magnificent score of 40 points managing to cut her handicap by three shots to 33.

Liz Hicks earned her second runners-up spot for the week on 35 points and reduced her handicap to 12 while Wendy Briggs was third, one point further back.

Seniors Section

Better-ball competition — Tuesday, February 19

SOME very good scores were attained at last Tuesday’s competition with Peter Dennis and Les Clements winning by a point from Stuart Phillpotts and Rolf Carroll.

Winners: Peter Dennis and Les Clements — 45pts; Runners-up: Stuart Phillpotts and Rolf Carroll — 44pts; 3rd: Dave Allan and David Jackson — 40pts; 4th: Bill Chamberlain and Francis Griffiths — 40pts; 5th: Richard Dudley and Pat Hayne — 40pts

Twos were scored by Denis Scorey, Brian Goble, Steve Hadfield, John Mullins, Dave Renardson, Dave Allan, Richard Dudley, Les Clements and Phil Bott.

Men’s Section

Winter League

(round five) — Sunday, February 24

SUNDAY saw the Men’s Winter League reach its final round.

The weather unfortunately took one round out earlier in the competition so this year’s overall competition had to be decided on the best four rounds out of five.

Round five result

Winners: Steve and Chris Turner — 46pts; Runners-up: Darren Chapman and Ernie Best — 44pts; 3rd: Dave Downing and Jon Jamison — 44pts; 4th: Wayne Voden and Shane Iles — 43pts (c/b)

Voden and Iles’ 43 points in the final round was enough to give them an overall two-point lead with 172 from Phil Honey and Graham Cornish on 170.

Cornwall Bowl final at St Enodoc — Sunday, March 3

LAUNCESTON travel to St Enodoc in Rock on Sunday for the Cornwall Bowl final against Whitsand Bay.
