East Cornwall Premier

Launceston 2

St Stephens Boro 2

THIS was not the best of games to watch as the Borough failed to see off their basement hosts.

All started well for the visitors with Luke Kelly giving them the lead, but Launceston struck back to level the scores at half-time when Gareth Jones cut inside to fire the ball into the net off the far post.

Launceston then suffered a bizarre sending off of goalkeeper John Woods who was adjudged to have handled the ball outside the penalty area. This left manager Kevin Hatch to don the gloves.

Kelly looked to have clinched the victory with his second goal of the game but they gifted Launceston a point when a Tom Ellacott cross was fumbled over the goal line by the goalkeeper.

East Cornwall Division One

Camelford 2

Pensilva 6

THE last time these two teams met was a month ago when Camelford managed to snatch a point.

Unfortunately for them unbeaten Pensilva were in no mood to give up their push for promotion and came away with a deserved win.

Surprisingly, there was only one goal in the first half which was scored by Sam Rogers, who beat two defenders before firing home.

Camelford struck within a minute of the start of the second half when Mark Shearer tapped in at the far post.

That was as good as it got for Camelford as Pensilva piled on the pressure.

After Jack Podmore had been fouled, Rogers converted the penalty.

Podmore quickly added the next two goals before Lee Hawkins fired in from close range.

Podmore then completed his hat-trick which left Shearer to reduce the arrears in the last minute.

Holsworthy 2

Bodmin Town 8

A FOUR goal haul from Dan Jennings helped Bodmin move up to second place with a convincing victory over a Holsworthy side who have now lost their last six matches.

The game got off to a strange start when, after saving a penalty, home goalkeeper Lee Mcdonnell left the field injured.

This was as good as it got for Holsworthy, who quickly found themselves 5-0 down. They did fight back with a Ricky Cobbledick penalty with the same player firing in a free kick.

Jennings’ four goals were accompanied by further goals from Scott Laughton, Lewis Knowlden, Connor Mewton and Matt Bullen.
