NORTH Petherwin, St Minver and St Teath will get their 2019/20 league campaigns underway on Saturday in the revamped East Cornwall League.

Due to the FA restructuring this season which has seen clubs been shifted all around the football pyramid, there will be one league but with 18 teams taking part as compared to last year’s Premier and Division One.

It is made up from teams from last year’s East Cornwall Premier and Division One, the Plymouth and West Devon League (Plymouth Marjon seconds and Mount Gould), the Duchy Premier League and Duchy One.

Three Post area clubs — North Petherwin (eighth in the Duchy Premier), St Minver (third in East Cornwall Division One) and St Teath (10th in East Cornwall Division One) all compete in a 34-game campaign which means a hectic schedule and plenty of travelling.

This all starts on Saturday as North Petherwin make the trip to Plymouth Marjon Reserves (2.30pm) while St Minver and St Teath are at home to St Stephen and Padstow United respectively (both 2.30pm).

St Minver and St Teath barely have time to let the dust settle on the opening day as they square off in a North Cornwall derby at Trewint Lane (6.45pm) on Tuesday night. The return is both clubs final clash of the calendar year on December 28 at St Teath.

North Petherwin are at home to St Dominick on Tuesday evening, again starting at 6.45pm.

Next Saturday (August 24) sees St Teath make the long trip to Gerrans and St Mawes United, Mount Gould travel from Plymouth to North Petherwin and St Minver head to the moor to tackle last year’s Duchy One runners-up St Cleer.

St Minver are at home once more on a Tuesday night on August 27 as they host Padstow United with the other Post area clubs not in action.
