Duchy League and Cup Round-Up
SATURDAY marked quarter-final day in the KMD Developments Cup and Premier leaders St Minver beat Second Division St Cleer 4-1.
Corey Cleave opened the scoring after 14 minutes with the St Cleer ‘keeper caught in no-mans-land. Callum Wilson doubled the lead in the 20th minute and then added a second in the 33rd minute after latching on to a through ball.
Six minutes after the restart Wilson completed a hat-trick before St Cleer replied in the 57th minute through Liam Donaghy.
Callington Town won 5-0 at Division Two North Hill to progress as expected to the semi-finals. Kevin Pethick, Dan Ashman, Ricky Coton, Kieran Prescott and Liam Gatcum scored a goal apiece to keep the club’s treble ambitions alive.
Biscovey was another favourite to reach the last four beating North Petherwin 5-1.
The tie was settled in the opening ten minutes with the hosts three up. Ross Wilcock scored a brace with Tom Pickering, Rory Barnicle and goalkeeper Liam Turner scoring a goal apiece.
Petherwin pulled one back five minutes from time when a quick free kick caught out the home defence.
Tintagel made it through to the quarter-finals of the Bodmin Sports Trophies League Cup after beating Queens Rangers in a feisty game that finished 2-1 after extra time.
Roche are through to the semi-finals of the competition after winning 3-0 at St Teath.
North Petherwin reserves had a walkover in the their quarter-final of the TJ International Reserve Cup when player apathy caused Premier Sixes reserves to concede the tie.
Unavailable players, cup tied players with their first team and some players not willing to travel left the club secretary with no option than to concede an excellent opportunity to progress further in a competition they fancied they could win.
In league action, Gunnislake switched to Tavistock 3G to get their Division One game with LC Phoenix played.
The visitors won 3-1 with goals from Josh Barron, Captain Nathan Cox direct from a corner and Paul Smith. Kieran Jasper scored the Gunnislake consolation.
Altarnun were held one all at home by Premier Sixes. Jody Holgarth scored for Altarnun with Dave Rabone replying.
In Division Two, Boscastle were beaten 2-0 at home by Calstock as any remaining promotion chance surely disappeared. Calstock fighting for points to avoid relegation won with a Jan Humphrey brace.
Lifton won 3-1 at Godolphin Atlantic. Cameron Heard, Lee Robinson and Anthony Coles scored for Lifton with Matt Lippett replying.
Rame Peninsula beat Kilkhampton in Division Four hitting six without reply. Luke Robinson scored a hat-trick with Connor McHale, Stuart Townell and Ben Wilkes completing the rout.
Southgate Seniors went down 4-3 at home to St Mawgan reserves and drop below their opponents into a relegation position as a result.
Elsewhere in the Division, Padstow United went down 2-0 at home to Real Saltash in a poor tempered game. The hosts were well below their best and ended with ten men through a controversial dismissal but all together it was unpleasant fare.
