North Devon League round-up — Saturday, September 28

KILKHAMPTON bounced back from their first defeat of the season in midweek to thrash Torrington Reserves in the Senior Division on Saturday afternoon.

A Joel Greening hat-trick sent Kilk to a 3-2 defeat at leaders Holsworthy Reserves on Wednesday night despite Matt Jones’ doubles, but proved far too strong for Torrington, as Ryan Thomas’ quadruple plus Luke Darke’s strike gave them a 5-1 win which keeps them right on the Magpies’ tail.

With Holsworthy and Bridgerule not in action, the other Post area club in action in the division was Shebbear United, who have also started excellently.

They were held to a 2-2 draw by visiting Bideford Community at South Close.

Ryan Down and Gregory Mitchell were the home scorers.

Morwenstow Reserves remain winless in Intermediate Two but put in a much-improved performance in a 3-2 defeat at home to Woolacombe.

Yassen Cook and Ben Polak were on target.

Todd Peschke stepped down to play for Bridgerule Reserves for their trip to Kingsley Wizards and scored in their 3-3 draw.

Darren Williams and substitute Max Hasson also scored.

Bradworthy Reserves fought back from 2-0 to beat their South Molton counterparts 7-3 on home soil.

Will Jenkins and Harrison Palmer were at the double with Ashley Cole, Michael Sampson and Jake Weeks getting one apiece.

Ashwater fell to a heavy 9-2 defeat at home to Kingsley Park. Andrew Williams and James Worrell both scored but it was the visitors who ran out comfortable winners.

Shebbear United Reserves were edged out by three goals to two at Woolsery.
