Holsworthy 2
Torrington 1
HARRY Stevens’ second-half strike gave Holsworthy their first win of the season as they beat Torrington 2-1 at Upcott Field.
The Magpies dominated the visitors in the opening stages and took the lead midway through the half when Tudor Placinta headed in at the back-post following Nathan Bonney’s cross from the right.
Torrington proved a real threat from set-pieces and from one of these Nathan Delauney saw his effort disallowed.
The North Devon side continued to probe away and after a corner was cleared, the cross back in was finished off by the same man. This time it counted.
Clearly told to improve by manager Liam Dart, Holsworthy flew out of the traps at the start of the second-half with Placinta and Stevens both seeing goals disallowed, the first for offside and the second when the linesman adjudged that the ball had gone out for a goal-kick when Bonney cut the ball back.
The visitors were reduced to ten men with 20 minutes to go following Seth Horwisiki’s poor tackle.
That allowed the Magpies to push forward even more, but they failed to take their chances until Stevens headed home Placinta’s cross on 80 minutes.

Camelford 3
Dobwalls 0
CAMELFORD bounced back from their 3-2 defeat at Mousehole by grabbing all three points against Dobwalls at Trefrew Park.
The visitors were the better side for much of the first-half but rarely troubled Luke Gwillam in the home goal.
And their failure to do so cost them on the stroke of half-time as Charlie Hambly fired an excellent shot into the top corner from 25 yards.
Manager Reg Hambly made a couple of changes at the break and his side went 2-0 up shortly after through Ed Harrison’s penalty, although the visitors felt the incident was outside the box. Jordan Inwood was given ten minutes in the sin-bin for dissent.
Harrison then turned provider as he slotted a throughball for midfielder Josh Insley to fire past Toby Chapman.
Chapman then made a couple of fine saves to keep the score down.
Liskeard Athletic 3
Callington Town 3
CALLINGTON belied their position at the foot of the table as they fought back from 3-1 down to earn a well deserved share of the points at local rivals Liskeard Athletic.
Andre Rodukov gave the Marshmen the lead early in the first-half, but the Blues hit back with two goals before the break to go in 2-1 ahead at half-time.
An early third for Athletic ten minutes into the second period gave them a two-goal advantage but Town came back into the contest as John Wyatt reduced the arrears.
The Reds then missed a penalty before, in the fifth minute of injury time, Callum Holder hit the equaliser to give the East Cornwall side their first point of the season.

Saltash United 6
Launceston 2
LAUNCESTON ran into one of the SWPL West title favourites, playing at the very top of their game, when they travelled to Saltash United last Wednesday (August 21).
The Clarets found themselves a goal behind in the third minute. Defender Callum O’Brien powered home an unchallenged header from a left-wing free-kick.
Three minutes later defensive hesitancy led to a clear penalty which David Barker duly thumped past Josh Colwill. And as early as the tenth minute, impressive striker Sam Hughes was given time to pick his way through a static Clarets defence and bury his shot past the hopelessly exposed Colwill.
The game was incredibly open and after just 12 minutes Launceston reduced the deficit. Midfielder Dan Hart collected a loose ball, looked up and thrashed an unstoppable 25-yard drive past startled home keeper Ryan Rickard.
At the other end, Colwill was performing heroics to keep the score down, but was helpless when the prolific Ryan Richards made it 4-1 in the 19th minute.
Dan Lewis played a neat one-two on the edge of the Clarets penalty area and was able to walk the ball into an empty net. Remarkably that made the score 5-1 inside the opening half-hour.
There was one goal left in the half and Launceston claimed it. Good, quick passing down the right, featuring Hart and full-back Dan Metherell, saw Tom Ellacott presented with a clear opportunity he took neatly, to make the half-time score 5-2.
The second period was largely uneventful until Richards curled an excellent 18-yard drive past Colwill in the final few minutes.

Stoke Gabriel 1
Holsworthy 4
HOLSWORTHY made it back-to-back victories with a 4-1 win at winless Stoke Gabriel.
The South Devon side actually started the brighter and took the lead, but that only seemed to inspire Holsworthy as they then dominated right till the end.
Taren Stacey and Nathan Bonney both had shots cleared off the line before Harry Stevens should have scored from close-range.
The equaliser eventually came on 25 minutes as Joe Barker was played through by Stevens before he calmly finished the chance.
The second came just two minutes later as Barker’s cross from the left was headed home by Stacey.
Shortly after the half hour it was 3-1 as Bonney beat two men before firing in.
Chances continued to be missed in the second-half with Stevens guilty on three ocassions while Barker hit the post for a second time.
Stevens finally grabbed his goal with 15 minutes to go as he latched onto a long ball over the top by Jack Gilbert.

Launceston 1
Falmouth Town 7
THE Clarets endured a chastening afternoon on Saturday as they looked to get their season back on track, following the heavy midweek defeat at Saltash.
Launceston were missing defensive midfielder James Bradley and top scorer Billy Hopcroft, but manager Gary Jeffery could still field a strong, experienced side.
The early stages gave no indication of what was to follow. Midfielder Martyn Duff gave the visitors a fourth-minute lead with an accurate 15-yard shot into the far corner of Josh Colwill’s net, but the Clarets bounced straight back.
Striker Morgan Parsonage was brought down for a clear penalty that Tom Ellacott powered accurately into the top corner.
The game soon developed an end-to-end flow.
Striker Matt Buchan put Falmouth in front with an accurate flicked header just before half-time.
Falmouth came flying out for the second-half and soon settled the destination of the points. Buchan scored his second with a superb volley before completing an impressive 15-minute hat trick.
The game’s major talking point occurred on the hour. Clarets skipper Josh McCabe tangled with Falmouth’s Luke Johnson who had appeared to instigate a clash between the pair. Referee Stacey Ford stunned the crowd by showing McCabe a straight red card while allowing Johnson to escape any punishment.
Launceston’s Jordan Pearce expressed an opinion to the referee on the subject and was promptly sin-binned, while Johnson was wisely substituted, to avoid further issues.
Falmouth added three further goals, from David Broglino, Tim Nixon and substitute Ryan Martt, in the final 15 minutes to claim a 7-1 victory.
Porthleven 3
Camelford 2
A CONTROVERSIAL injury-time winner from Dan Richardson meant Camelford came away with nothing to show for their efforts at Porthleven.
The Camels created chances in the opening exchanges through Ed Harrison and Josh Insley but failed to take advantage and found themselves 2-0 down thanks to Ed Timmons and a deflected effort from the edge of the box from Dan Stidwell.
Camelford pulled one back shortly before the break as Mike Kempthorne’s cross was headed in by Insley from eight yards.
The away side continued to make the running after half-time and drew level when Insley’s lay-off was fired in from 18 yards by Charlie Hambly.
Both sides had their moments in the second-half, and just as it looked like a point well done for the Camels, a long ball was headed on into the path of Richardson who scored. Despite the visitors’ strong appeals for offside, the goal was allowed to stand.
Elsewhere, Callington Town failed to build on their 3-3 draw at Liskeard in the week as they were thrashed 7-1 at high-flying Mousehole.
