HOLSWORTHY have appointed ex-Barnstaple Town and Okehampton Argyle boss Kevin Squire as their new manager.
The former striker, 47, spent 11 seasons at Bideford either side of spells with Barnstaple Town and Ilfracombe Town, but after a joint stint as Barum’s manager in 2021 and a spell in charge at SWPL Premier East outfit Okehampton Argyle, he has agreed to become the Magpies boss as he replaces Ryan Hall after four and a half seasons in charge.
Hall led the Magpies to seventh in SWPL Premier West last term, as well as reaching a fourth successive Torridge Cup final, a trophy they won in the 2021/22 season.
Squire told the club website: “When I got the call from the chairman and met the committee, I was impressed with the enthusiasm and feeling around the club.
“For me, I think this is a good place for me to continue my football journey and look forward to meeting the players to improve the club on the pitch.”
A club statement added: “We’re really excited to announce Kevin as manager, he comes with a wealth of knowledge and a very impressive reputation.
“Kevin has previously managed/coached at Barnstaple Town and Okehampton Argyle, as well as more recently being involved in the coaching team at Tavistock.
“Kevin will head up the football operation of the club moving forward, and we feel we are very lucky to have secured a manager of Kevin’s calibre.”
