North Devon League round-up — Saturday, September 21
BRADWORTHY picked up their first point of the season in the Premier on Saturday as they drew 2-2 at home to Ilfracombe Town Reserves.
The hosts had lost their opening three games but goals from Lewis Clarke and Gary Clarke secured the village side a share of the spoils.
In the Senior Division, Kilkhampton edged past Combe Martin in a five-goal thriller at Lamb Park to make it six points from a possible six to start the campaign.
Ewan Reeves was at the double with Adam Sleeman also on the scoresheet for Luke Francis’ side.
Elsewhere, Bridgerule put eight past Fremington Reserves at Vinnicombe Park to record their first league win of the season.
An own goal plus a seventh minute effort from Jacob Nosworthy gave Bridgerule a 2-0 lead at the break before the visitors pulled one back on 51 minutes through Callum Josselyn.
However, that only served to wake the hosts up as they went to town on their beleaguered visitors , scoring five in the last 16 minutes.
Jedd Peschke scored a hat-trick while Rob Pearce, George Swain and Sennen Swain were also on target.
It was a totally different story at Combe Martin as Bridgerule Reserves were hammered 9-0 by the home side’s reserve team.
In the basement division (Intermediate Three), Shebbear United Reserves proved too strong for Taw Park, winning 11-0.
Simon Larkworthy continued his fine recent form with four while Jack Squire (2), Jak Jenkinson, Ryan Down, Charles Harding and Nick Purcell were also on target. An own goal rounded off the score.
Bottom club Ashwater put in an improved performance at home to second-placed Park Rangers before going down to a 3-1 defeat.
Andrew Williams was on target for the Yellows as they went in at the break all square, but the Bideford-based visitors scored twice after half-time to take the points home.
Bradworthy Reserves were well beaten 4-0 at Kingsley Park.
