Duchy Shoeboy League Cup (last 16)

Delabole United 3

Grampound 0

SAM Turner’s second-half hat-trick sent Delabole into the quarter-final of the Shoeboy League Cup after a 3-0 victory over Grampound.

Played in high winds and on a pitch that cut up in places, the first-half was a tight affair with Delabole ‘keeper Glen Burrell only being forced into a couple of routine saves.

The hosts had the wind against them in the second-half but kept the ball well by keeping it on the ground as much as possible.

Their patience was rewarded on the hour as Turner was first to react to a loose ball and saw his shot on the half volley cross the line according to the officials despite a clearance.

The second arrived with just over ten minutes to go as a cross to the back-post was flapped at by the keeper, allowing Turner to control the ball and slot into an empty net.

Turner’s hat-trick arrived on the full-time whistle as a cross-cum-shot ended at Turner’s feet, and from a tight angle did the rest.

Delabole face St Cleer Reserves or St Dominick Reserves in the last eight.
