A challenging season for Launceston AFC came to a positive, upbeat conclusion at a packed Pennygillam on Saturday, June 7.

The club’s annual Presentation Night featured all four Launceston teams, with the development squad joined by the reformed ladies side, both enjoying their inaugural season.

The development side entered the St Piran League Division Four and made significant progress throughout the season, achieving a highly creditable fourth place finish.

The ladies team, under the supervision of Paige Price and Chelsea Drury, played a series of friendly fixtures as they prepare for the prospect of league football.

First team manager Neil Price acknowledged that results for the two senior teams had generally been disappointing but chose to concentrate on the potential displayed by the development side, following the successful integration of Southgate into the club.

This will lead to a steady flow of players progressing through to the senior sides, promising a bright future for the club. In the meantime, crowds at Pennygillam continue to increase, culminating in a record attendance of 604 for Easter’s highly successful Groundhop fixture against Callington.

Neil will be joined by new joint manager Simon Minett next season along with Rob Davis, who will be the Clarets’ first team coach.

Neil presented awards to the first and second teams while joint managers Steve Stoppard and Tom Rutter reviewed the progress made by the development team before handing out their trophies. Award winners were as follows:
