St Piran League Kernow Stone League Cup (first-round)

ST PIRAN League (East) outfits Bude Town, Launceston Reserves and Callington Town Reserves were all knocked out of the Kernow Stone League Cup on Saturday afternoon.

Bude welcomed St Piran League (West) division St Day to Broadclose Park and after a brilliant match which went to extra-time, it was the visitors who left North Cornwall with a place in the last 16, assured thanks to hat-tricks from Dan Richards and Jack Willis.

Scott Percy continued his superb goalscoring form the Seasiders with a treble of his own, but it wasn’t enough for Josh Allen’s side.

Launceston Reserves welcomed their St Austell counterparts to Pennygillam but were narrowly edged out in a five-goal thriller.

Striker Mark Elvidge gave the Clarets the lead early on after racing on to a throughball before the Lillywhites levelled through Kieron Bishop. Matt Searle then ensured it was St Austell who went into the break in front.

Launceston grew into the game and made it all square when midfielder Gareth Jones smashed home a superb low drive.

However the Poltair club are top of the league for a reason and won it when Chris Kilbey tapped home Bishop’s cross to the back-post.

Callington made the long trip down to West Cornwall to tackle a Hayle side fourth in their league and lost 9-0.

Cameron Irish helped himself to a quadruple while Liam Mooney, Toby Angwin, Stuart Nicholls and Matt Thomas were also on target.

Morwenstow’s last 32 tie is at fellow East division side Liskeard Athletic Reserves this Saturday (3pm).
