AFTER the disappointment of the Under 14s' Championships being cancelled due to weather and circumstance, Bude Gig Club stepped up to the mark and put themselves forward to run the event for 2014.

It was the first time the club had hosted such an event and Tamar Lakes was the ideal venue, with plenty of space for the young rowers, spectators and beautiful gig boats. Even the weather did its best, with storms bypassing participants to the north, but blessing them with the delight of perfect rainbows, picturesquely framing the lake and rowers.
