ALEX Quinn, a 13-year-old pupil at Sir James Smith's School, Camelford claimed 5th place overall in his debut year in European Karting. Over 70 drivers from all over the world registered for the prestigious European Championship at the start of the year. The drivers raced in Belgium, Spain, Italy and France and hotly contested the coveted seeded top 10 rankings. As the summer season was drawing to an end in Cornwall, Alex travelled to Salbris in central France for the final round. Due to other commitments, Alex was unable to join the other competing drivers for testing the week before the event and so, on the first official practice day, Alex set foot on the Salbris track for the first time.
