LAUNCESTON mCricket Club's new pavilion extension was officially opened by North Cornwall MP Dan Rogerson on Sunday. Mr Rogerson cut the ribbon on a day of family cricket, with a junior game taking place in the morning and a chairman's XI facing off against an old boys XI after the opening ceremony was held. The club has been working on the extension project for the last three years, successfully raising over £200,000 in grants and fundraising to cover the cost of the scheme. Appreciation was expressed to the England and Wales Cricket Trust (ECWT) for grants amounting to £65,000 and a £10,000 interest free loan, and Sport England, for their grant of £50,000. Gratitude was also expressed to Sita Environmental Trust (£25,000), Cornwall Council, The Bernard Sunley Foundation, the Co-operative Membership Fund and the Norman Family Trust for their grants.
