UPPER Tamar Lake was thickly fringed with fisherman, so the course was central and short — six laps to make an hour's sailing — on Sunday. The sun was out, the wind was brisk and the gybe round Middle treacherous. First away was Bob Sampson's RS, followed by Jane Anderson. A tack to port by the Comber/Weller Enterprise found a way between two Toppers, enabling it to round Zebra in second place. The order at the end of the lap was Bob, Jane, Adam, Alan and Nicky, but gradually the Lasers — so marvellously accelerative on the plane — began to assert themselves, with Nicky overtaking Alan, Jane overtaking Bob and Adam succumbing to the rest. By the end Jane A and Bob had lapped everyone up to eighth place. For the full report, and a round-up of the area news and sport, see this week's edition of the Post.
