LAUNCESTON AND DISTRICT DARTS LEAGUE

THE final regular week of the Launceston and District Darts League season took place in March with the mixed trebles and the end of the respective divisions.

The mixed trebles was held at the Archers Arms in Lewannick on Monday, March 25, with eight entries and games being played over the best of five legs.

The quarter-finals saw two go the distance with the others being won 3-0 and 3-1 respectively.

Kelly Wilkinson, Liz Wilkinson and Aaron Battin beat Westgate trio Peter Sandercock, Jo Jenkins and Mik Courtney in the decider, as did James Doney, Kay Roberts and Warren Wright against Angela Durham, Andrew Gerry and Bev Baxter.

Mark Edwards, Beryl Allen and Sally Bruton whitewashed Andrew Parsons, Jennie Baker and Gareth Smith, while Stuart Maher, Karen Steinbichl and Aaron Mostaeddi dropped just one leg against Fred Philp, Wendy Allen and Ian Morrison.

The last four saw two comfortable wins. Maher, Steinbichl and Mostaeddi defeated the Wilkinsons and Battin 3-0, while Doney, Roberts and Wright proved too strong for Edwards, Allen and Bruton in a 3-1 success.

It was hoped the final would be a close-run thing, and it went all the way with Doney, Roberts and Wright holding their nerve.

The Open Division One and Ladies Division leagues were rounded off at the end of the month.

Park Warriors and Westgate B had to play each other twice with each team securing a narrow 6-5 victory.

It meant the Warriors finished third on 110 points, four ahead of Westgate B who moved up to fourth.

Village Inn defended their crown, finishing 22 points clear of runners-up Stumble Inn.

Wanderettes took the Ladies Division title with 90 points, five clear of B’s & D’s who defeated Proper Ansome B 4-3. Queen Bees saw off Proper Ansome A by the same score.
