LAUNCESTON rounded off their pre-season games with a 7-24 defeat at the hands of Cinderford. The home side put up a valiant fight against a strong National One side, but the difference in their level of play showed, particularly in the second half. Launceston RFC Director of Rugby Neil Bayliss described the game as a learning curve for the squad: "We knew they were going to be a difficult test; that was the idea of getting them down here today. That's the level I want our boys to aspire to. "I thought our scrum worked well, particularly in the first half and our line outs were good. We finished strong, the last ten minutes, but we let them dominate the pack. I think we gave Cinderford too much respect. "This was a tough one before the league starts, but it's a good learning curve. I think pre-season has gone well this year and we're looking forward to next week."
