THE darkening skies, torrential rain and light winds meant some of the Upper Tamar Lake Sailing Club members decided to stay on dry land, leaving Bob Sampson and James Pollard sailing their Lasers with full sails, Sue Murray in her Topper Trez and Nathan Pollard in his Topper, to sail in the morning race.
Fortunately the rain eased a little as the race progressed, but the wind did not improve meaning the decision by the officer of the day was to shorten the race from three laps to two.
Bob Sampson was first across the line, followed by James Pollard, Sue Murray and Nathan Pollard.
