THE?LWC Drinks Cornwall Cricket League fixtures have been announced for 2018.
In the Premier Division, Werrington’s new first team captain Paul?Smith will be given an immediate test of his captaincy credentials when they welcome reigning champions Truro on the opening weekend (Saturday, April 21).
The 2015 champions will then be on the road on consecutive Saturdays at Falmouth and hotly-fancied Penzance, with both sides at Ladycross on the final two Saturdays.
The one Bank Holiday Monday game on May 28, see them travel to Wadebridge.
Division Two East champions Launceston’s first match back in County One since 2015 sees them travel to fellow promoted side St?Erme. They then welcome Troon in their first home game before the eagerly awaited showdown at Werrington seconds on May 5. The return game at Lawhitton will be played on the penultimate weekend.
Werrington are at Troon on the opening day before warming up for the derby by welcoming Rosudgeon.
The Bank Holiday fixtures see Launceston entertain Callington while Werrington welcome Lanhydrock.
Callington will aim to secure a return to the top-flight in 2018 and start with an awkward trip to Gorran. They then entertain Roche before heading down to Troon on May 5. The derbies with Werrington seconds will be played on May 26 and July 21 with Launceston heading to Moores Park on July 28.
In Division Two East, relegated St Minver start with a tough trip to St Austell seconds before entertaining Callington seconds, who welcome Luckett in their opener.
Luckett’s first match at the Chapel Field will be against newly-promoted Ladock.
Bude, fresh off a solid first year back in the third-tier, start with a trip to Newquay seconds before a home clash with Boconnoc.
Their Bank Holiday Monday outing will see them travel to St Minver.
Holsworthy’s first ever campaign at?Division Three level will start with a local derby at home to relegated South Petherwin before a trip to another Post area team, Tintagel, who get their campaign underway at Saltash Town.
Werrington thirds head out to the moors to tackle St Neot before taking on their St Austell counterparts a week later.
The Bank Holiday games see Holsworthy head to Liskeard, South Petherwin go all the way down to Gorran seconds and Tintagel travel to Roche seconds. Werrington are the only side at home as they welcome Wadebridge twos.
There’s five Post area teams in Division Four East, with four of those sides starting at home.
Launceston seconds are determined to get back into Division Three for the first time since 2009 and they welcome their St Erme counterparts to Lawhitton. Division Five Tamar champions Milton Abbot entertain Bugle while relegated Luckett seconds entertain fellow league new boys Pencarrow.
The first league game of 2018 in Bude will see their seconds entertain Menheniot-Looe seconds while Delabole, who enjoyed a remarkable turnaround to stave off the threat of relegation, go to newly-promoted Lanhydrock seconds.
The second weekend sees Launceston go to Bugle, Delabole entertain Luckett, Bude go to Newquay thirds and Milton Abbot face Pencarrow.
With the abolishment of the five division fives across the county, it’s back to having divisions five and six. There are five Post area teams involved in the former.
Relegated St?Minver seconds start at home to Launceston thirds while Tintagel seconds and Werrington fourths entertain Gunnislake and Ladock seconds respectively.
Tintagel will have an early derby to look forward to on April 28 as they head to Wadebridge thirds while St Stephen entertain St Minver and Saltash St Stephens welcome Werrington.
Tideford seconds provide the opposition in Launceston’s first home game.
Launceston and Werrington will clash on?June 23 and August 25.
In Division Six East, there are ten teams meaning the league doesn’t start until May 5 with South Petherwin seconds taking on Grampound Road fourths and Callington thirds entertaining St Austell fourths, who welcome Petherwin to Wheal Eliza the following weekend.
Callington are scheduled to face Newquay on the 12th with the derbies between the two sides set for May 26 and July 21.
