TINTAGEL Seconds’ title hopes are in their hands after seeing off their St Neot counterparts by five wickets at Wenmouth.
Aaron Washer was the star of the show, as after taking 5-7 from just 3.3 overs to derail the home side to 138 all out, he then struck 62 not out in partnership with skipper Dave Lane (21no).
Earlier, opening bowlers Kane Hartland (2-25) and Lane (1-38) ensured a good start.
Elsewhere in the division, Launceston Thirds had a tough afternoon at home to their Menheniot-Looe counterparts, losing by ten wickets.
Andrew Mogford’s 18 was the best in their 94 all out.
Luckett are a point ahead of their St Stephen counterparts in the race for second after a 20-point success at Werrington Fourths.
The visitors racked up 224-8 from their 40 overs the best being Martin Budden’s unbeaten 44 as youngsters Ralph Hodgson (3-39) and Theo Wills (2-36) shared five wickets.
The much-changed hosts were dismissed for 84 with Sam Uglow making 24. Steve Brown (3-15) was miserly.
Luckett were also boosted Bude Seconds’ defeat at Bugle.
After Michael Taylor (50), Jack Miles (26) and Derek Piper (23) all got in, the Seasiders slipped from 103-2 to 159 all out before the hosts eased to victory by seven wickets.
South Petherwin Seconds lost by six runs at their Saltash counterparts who had earlier made 244-3 in their 40 overs.
In reply, after James Cawsey (25 off 16) got the innings off to a flyer, Nick Gerry (42) and skipper Richard Watson (73) took the score to 147-1.
That became 173-5, but Trevor Dingle (29 off 29) and Caleb Forsyth (21 off 22) kept the runs coming.
Twenty-one were required off the final three, but the hosts held on as Petherwin closed on 238-8.
