Cornwall Cricket League Division Three East round-up – Saturday, May 10
TINTAGEL made it two wins from two as they thrashed Ladock by 88 runs at Butts Field.
The Knights – helped by a staggering 82 extras from the visitors – posted an impressive 280-7 with skipper Matt Jolliffe making 87.
Tom Parsons (40) and Adrian Pooley (35no) provided the momentum.
The visitors made decent fist of the reply which included 70 from Simon Newland, but seamers Jack Minehan (3-33) and Jordan Blanchard (2-17) shared five wickets.
Dan Tilley struck 107 not out from just 104 balls as Launceston were victorious by seven wickets at Boconnoc.
A fine bowling display – led by Tommy Davey’s 4-33 saw the hosts restricted to just 191 all-out, before a second-wicket stand of 127 between Tilley and Mark Thomas (42) ensured a morale-boosting success.
Adrian Clements produced an innings from the ages as South Petherwin fought back to win a thriller by one wicket at Grampound Road Seconds.
Petherwin looked dead and buried at 135-8 in pursuit of 239 before Clements found a perfect ally in teenager Ben Crocombe. While Crocombe made a vital 24 not out, Clements smashed the bowling to all parts in his 92 which included 12 fours and three sixes.
He was bowled with five still needed, but last man Tarran Davey (4no) held his nerve.
Petherwin enjoyed an up and day down in the field with opening bowlers Adam Creasey (2-32) and Jacob Masters (2-26) keeping things tight before Clements took 4-58.
Callington Thirds were hit for 302-8 by Menheniot-Looe at Liskeard’s Lux Park despite 2-53 from Rhys Hodge.
They made a decent fist of the chase by ending on 231-5 as Ollie Bennett made a league best score of 60 to add to 37 apiece from Tom Neville and Toby Beresford-Power.
