HOLSWORTHY Cricket Club is approaching the 2019 season in high spirits. After a highly successful 2018 season on and off the field, the first season in their new pavilion at Stanhope Park and what a fantastic building it is, not just for the cricket club but also building great relationships with the local community. On the field the Saturday team had a solid first ever season in Division 3 East of the Cornwall Cricket League and the Sunday team had another successful season in Division 3 of the North Devon League.The club also run a thriving youth programme which is going from strength to strength with an influx of juniors last season. They have high hopes that the youth programme will continue to grow this year and hopefully a few of the juniors may make the jump into the Sunday men’s team and experience men’s cricket for the first time.A club spokesperson said: “As a club we continue to grow on and off the field, last year we held our first ever county game at Stanhope Park as Devon took on Cornwall in a girls under 17 game, an extremely proud moment for the club and we hope these games will be seen more and more at Stanhope Park in the future.“We must thank the White Hart Hotel in Holsworthy for their continued support as main sponsor of the club.
