WERRINGTON Cricket Club and Shebbear College cricket star Freddie Stevenson has headed to South Africa for three months to further his career.
Just 14, Freddie has been placed on a three-month exchange at Newlands Cricket High School in Cape Town where he will train and for whom he will represent in all formats.
The trip was organised by Shebbear College, and despite being half way around the world at such a young age, the left-arm fast bowler is eager to just keep learning ahead of a busy home summer.
Freddie said: "I am really excited by this challenge. An opportunity like this is amazing. It will help me develop my game and I intend to enjoy every minute.”
Over the next few months, Freddie will have to combine his cricket for Cornwall, Werrington and Shebbear with his school work, something which he will no doubt do as he continues to further his cricketing education.
