Bond Timber Cornwall Cricket League (Division Two East)
Bude (108 all out)
Roche (110-3)
BUDE missed the chance to cement their position in the promotion shake-up as they were thrashed by seven-wickets by Roche at Crooklets.
The hosts were sent in to bat by Roche captain Jacob Rowe, and his decision was vindicated as only Matt Hookway, Chris Parkes and Matt Mansbridge passed 20 in a disappointing 108 all out.
Roche eased to their target with over 18 overs remaining, opener James Cole digging in for 28 not out.
Home skipper Warren Rumble had scored 412 runs in just five innings this term, but he went early when he was trapped lbw by Stewart May for 10.
Matt Hookway and the returning Chris Parkes took the score to 65 before Hookway (22) became the first of six wickets for Mark Trudgeon when he was caught.
Trudgeon then bowled Parkes for 30 as four wickets fell with the score on 72.
The swing bowler also castled Charlie Gliddon for a duck while Harry Trethewey also got in on the act, bowling Matt Williams (2) and having Thomas Hall (0) lbw.
At 72-6, Bude were in big trouble, and although Mansbridge batted nicely for an unbeaten 23, the tailenders mustered just ten between them as they were bowled out with 75 balls unused.
Trudgeon took 6-25 from 10.3 overs while Trethewey chipped in with 3-30 from ten.
Bude needed a good start, but Cole (28no) and Shaun Trudgeon (17) got going early.
Trudgeon was eventually caught at mid-off by Rumble off James Findlay (1-21) before Neil Trudgeon was bounced out by Sam Hockin (1-33) for seven.
However, Tom Rowe’s 15 ended any real chance of a home victory. He departed before the end, caught at point off Jack Horwell (1-16), but Cole and Trethewey (17no) ensured the Clay Country club left North Cornwall with 20 points.
Reflecting on the loss, Rumble said: “We didn’t bat very well and we need to make sure we get to training during the week and look to get ourselves ready for the weekend at Launceston. It was just a poor day all round, which you get sometimes.”
