LAUNCESTON Tennis Club Coach James Brobin is hoping the successes of 2014 continue into the new year, following a thrilling on court conclusion to activities.

The final competition of the year involving juniors from Launceston was recently held at Budehaven, with much of the glory going to the hosts.

Bude's AJ?Nicholls and Marley May were the winners of the respective red and orange contests, while Josh Cavey restored some pride for Launceston in the green event.

The junior boys' and girls' competitions also went the way of Bude, with victories for Albert Shepherd and Naomi Cole — the latter taking the win in the match of the day.

Lauren Bryant of Launceston fought back from a set down, only to miss out in a matchplay tie-break as Naomi held her nerve to close out the game.

Earlier in the competition Lauren had saved five match points in a matchplay tie-break to win a classic, proving she has got determination in abundance.

Good attendance in the coaching and competition programmes have been a highlight of the year, with the club also taking part in an increased number of events.
