FOREST midweek cricket champions Lydney faced a Forest Select XI in the end of T20 season presentation hosted by Ruardean Hill Cricket Club.

Lydney openers Jordan Stone and Curtis Russell reached their 50 partnership in the eighth over, defying some good bowling by Jack Worgan (0-22) and Tom Tremlett (0-29).

Stone was caught by John Pickering off the bowling of Kerry Powell for 38 when Lydney were on 63. He was replaced by a composed Jack O'Connell who was bowled first ball. Powell finished with figures of 2-36.

Powell was on a hat-trick but Pete Glynn saw off the danger and began to build partnership but was bowled for nine by Chris Jackson with Lydney on 100-3 in the 15th over.

Tom Worgan came to the crease, hitting a quick-fire 12 before being caught by Ruardean Hill's Aaron Underwood off the bowling of Jackson.

Russell went for 56, caught by Worgan to become Jackson's third victim and Lydney were now on 120-5.

Ed Jones – at the crease with Grant Keddle – was looking to avoid a 3rd successive golden duck – out on the first ball – in the T20 competition.

Thankfully for him, he pulled his first ball for one to deep mid wicket, the ball just falling short of the fielder after which the batsmen opened up hitting 30 quick runs between them to leave Lydney on 150-5 off 20 overs.

Jones (18) and Keddle (11) with both hitting a big six each in the process before ending the innings undefeated.

Forest Select XI opened with Underwood and Goodrich's Andrew Brown (Goodrich) facing the bowling of Peter Glynn – who started with a maiden – and Phil Lewis.

Brown reached 10 before being bowled by spinner Lewis who ended with 1-18.

Forest Select were reduced to 27-3 with Glynn bowling Ross Barnett for one and trapping Underwood leg before on 15.

Jack Knox had Jon Coleman stumped for nought by Jack Batcock but Jon Pickering and Chris Jackson consolidated with 20 quick runs.

Pickering was caught and bowled by Callum Miller for 15 leaving the Select on 48-5 and needing 103 off nine overs.

Jackson fell victim to a stumping on 15 off the bowling of Knox and Lydney then brought Jack O'Connell into the attack who had Worgan caught on the boundary for 17 by Miller.

Kerry Powell, who finished on an undefeated 33, rounded off a good individual game punishing loose balls to the boundary but he ran out of partners as Worgan and Tremlett went for duck and Paddy Sault run out for one.

Lydney's bowling figures were: Glynn (2-9), Lewis (1-18), Knox (2-28), Miller (1-20), O'Connell (2-6), Keddle (0-9) and Jones (0-10) as the Select were dismissed for 113.

The Verderers' Cup trophy was presented to Lydney by league sponsor Keith Bell of KW Bell Group and Ruardean Hill received the runners' up trophy.
