North Devon Table Tennis League preview

Although the rest of the North Devon Table Tennis League doesn’t restart until next week, Bridgerule host Holsworthy A in Division One tomorrow night (Friday, January 3).

Bridgerule are right in the mix for the title in their first ever season in the league, currently sitting in fourth, 16 points behind leaders Smugglers, who have played twice more.

Meanwhile Holsworthy are in mid-table.

Both sides are also in action next week. On Monday, Bridgerule make the long trip to second bottom Chulmleigh A, while Holsworthy A host champions Misfits, who are six points off the top, at Sutcombe Village Hall.

Holsworthy D have found it tough since promotion, and fell to the bottom after a 6-4 defeat by Chulmleigh in their last outing. They head to Instow on Wednesday to face third from last Herons.

In Division Two, third-placed Holsworthy B are finding form at the right time and look set to mount a title challenge.

But with only 14 league games to play as opposed to 18 in the top-flight, Holsworthy have only five games remaining, but crucially one more than the top two.

They currently sit nine points off leaders Littleham, who they face away from home in their final game.

Holsworthy resume at home to strugglers Dolphins on Tuesday night before facing Chulmleigh Chiefs and Despicables besides their rearranged clash at West Buckland.

Holsworthy C look set to finish bottom. They sit 12 points behind Dolphins with a game in-hand ahead of Tuesday night’s trip to second-placed Paddlers, before welcoming West Buckland.
