Ross-on-Wye's Golf Club have made a considerable investment in recent years in the interests of young people have resulted in Head Professional Tim Hall and his 'School of Golf' Team of Assistants ably assisted by a Ross Juniors Forum Committee, witnessing the emergence of some highly talented young golfers in their care.
For 15 year old Cam Haines his 2015 golfing season could not have started more effectively and his achievements have meant that his handicap during that time has tumbled remarkably from 11 to 5.
A pupil at Crypt Grammar School in Gloucester, Cam along with 60 others took part recently in the annual Gloucestershire Schools Championship held at Tewkesbury Park Golf Club and Cam's nett 71 medal score made him the best nett performer on the day. His name again finished top of the final score-sheet when Cam won the Ackerman Spring Trophy with a nett 63 medal score at the Orchard Golf Course in Huntley.
To complete his hat-trick, Cam carded a spectacular nett 62 medal score at his home Club of Ross to win the annual David Sainsbury Cup for Juniors. Along with the runners up prize in the Ross Club's March monthly medal for men when Cam shot a nett 67 with 112 members taking part. This bodes really well for Cam as he looks forward to an exciting future and career in golf and to becoming one of the best golfers worldwide.
