Trelawney Division?One

Truro 0

Bude 10

BUDE’S women sealed the Trelawney Division One title after sealing the title with a 10-0 annihilation of Truro.

With Penzance waiting in the wings to snatch the title, the North Cornwall side knew that they had to win, however a ruthless display proved more than enough despite Penzance’s 4-0 victory at Duchy.

Bude started brightly, and within minutes of the push back they had taken the lead as Erinne Bickle received the ball in the D and fired the ball home.

Alan Muller’s side continued to press the home team with Emily Shepherd and Tammy Snowsill creating chances with their intelligent balls into space for Charlotte Prime to run on to. It was from one of these balls that Prime drove into the D and placed the ball past the advancing keeper.

Truro rallied, and they pushed the away side back into their half forcing Grace Chan, Hannah Maloney, Cara Phillips and Jemma Ball to be alert in defence.

The North Cornwall club grew back into the contest and soon put the game to bed. Heather Mathews received the ball on the left and squared the ball to Shepherd who rounded the keeper and fired in before Anna Bury got on the scoresheet twice in quick succession, the second of which came from fine work from Snowsill.

Manager Alan Muller moved the players around and this allowed Jemma Ball to go further up the pitch. She linked well with Zara Higham to score Bude’s sixth goal.

With Truro camped in their own half, the visiting defence were rarely called into action while in possession, Bude were moving the ball around the pitch with ease, forcing the home side to work extremely hard to keep the score down further.

However, the pressure was telling and it wasn’t long before the floodgates opened once more. After several short corners the ball was pushed out to Bickle. She slipped the ball to Snowsill whose shot on goal was neatly deflected into the net by Prime.

Shepherd then got her second of the afternoon when she pounced on a rebound and dispatched the ball neatly past the keeper. The ninth goal came moments later when a great run from Mathews down the right found Shepherd who passed the ball into Bury whose shot proved far too accurate for the defender on the line.

Bude did reach double figures before the end when Ball smashed in her second of the afternoon and it wasn’t long before they could start their celebrations.

Such as been their success this term, they have won 16 and drawn just four of their 20 matches picking up 52 points in the process and with it a goal difference of plus 75.

The team expressed their thanks to Muller for all his hard work and to all the players, coaches, umpires and spectators who helped this team achieve their goal of going back up into the South Division without losing a game.
