BUDE scored six for the third consecutive week as they thrashed a spirited West Dorset side at Budehaven School.

Having won the toss, Bude decided to play with the wind of Storm Brian behind them and after adjusting to the challenging conditions they slotted home a simple but delightful short corner routine with Thomas Hall finishing the move off nicely.

Bude remained calm under the limited pressure that West Dorset were trying to apply until Kristof Saunders, who was returning from injury, came off the bench and had an immediate impact.

A number of neat one-two passing moves allowed him to glide effortlessly through midfield into the D to dispatch his shot past the goalkeeper.

The third soon followed when Timon Chapman continued his fine goalscoring form by hassling the defenders at every opportunity and it was from a turnover that saw him capitalise and allow Bude to go into the half-time break with a well deserved lead.

Bude knew the second-half could be a struggle running into the wind.

However, it allowed a more open end-to-end game as their fitness and constant use of the bench ensured they were constantly fresh.

Numerous chances were created as the space allowed the ball to move freely for both sides but Bude’s defence were resolute and determined to get a clean sheet and thwarted every chance West Dorset could muster.

Eventually the fourth and fifth goals came in quick succession with Saunders claiming his second before Conor Bickle rounded the diving keeper before deftly lifting the ball over him from the acutest of angles.

To round off a complete performance, Bude’s newest and youngest player Jared Slade, showed why he was given his debut as he made a perfect run to the back-post and tapped in.
