BUDE Surf Outreach Group gave a surf session to the Active8 group again this year on Saturday, September 12, with the assistance of Raven Surf School.

The weather was a little cooler and the surf was messy but of a good size and the ocean still relatively warm. Although three young people came only one was brave enough to venture in with help.

Issy Wynne came out on the 12’ paddle board, brought with a grant from Cornwall Council and caught several good waves with Stell from Raven surf school riding on the tail and they stayed in for nearly 40 minutes. As only one young person surfed Stell agreed to use their boards and give Active8 helpers a chance to surf with Ben the other instructor.

Thanks were extended to the volunteers that helped; Mark Ward, Gareth Jeremiah, Steve Stritch, as well as Spike Murray and the RNLI and Raven School.

Bude Surf Outreach Group is a small voluntary charity that offers surfing opportunities to young people of varying abilities in Cornwall and as well as running one to one sessions with local young people organises a group session for Active8 each year.

Secretary Kev Hogarth said: “We are always looking for suitable and qualified volunteers to help and funds to run these activities, anyone or business that wants to become involved can contact me on 07960581068.”
