A MIXED team of rowers from Bude Pilot Gig Club took part in the annual historical Appledore Estuary race as part of the Appledore regatta, on Thursday (August 15).
Tanya Salisbury, rowing in number one position, said: "It took a bit of getting used to, the view from the front," but the crew continued to hold their lead position out to the Middle Ridge buoy.
Here, for a brief moment, the chase boat, Kerrens of Torridge, looked to be catching up as the sharp turn had taken some negotiation, but once around, the lead was returned.
