SEVENTEEN Bude RATS members took their places in a record field of nearly 1,500 runners in the Bideford Half Marathon last weekend.

Chilly but otherwise perfect running conditions saw several personal bests on the day from the RATS as they took on the 13.1 mile course which starts and finishes on Bideford Quay-heading out to Torrington on the road before turning onto the Tarka Trail at the Puffing Billy and back towards Bideford.

A great run from Paul Corthine saw him lead the RATS in, closely followed by Harvey Richmond and Kelvin Moyse — all three running personal best times.

Karen Bolt, running her maiden Half Marathon was the first lady to finish for the RATS and excellent running from several of the newer members of the club gives good signs that 2016 will be a busy year for the RATS.
