AS HEAD coach at Launceston Tennis Club along with Just Tennis at Wadebridge Tennis Club, it is always good to keep those that wish to be informed of all the latest news.

The spring term is drawing to a close and participation levels within the game are steady, but as always, new players of any age and ability are welcome to join us. The only requirement is a love of the game and I’m sure that will grow once you are involved.

There is a coaching and competitive programme for players as young as five to as young as you feel when later in years.

The most recent competition was in February half-term where Bude hosted ‘Clash of the Clubs’ featuring Wadebridge, Launceston and Bude.

The one-day competition featured a morning of mini tennis for under 10s, an afternoon of junior tennis and evening of adult tennis.

The ratings competition saw friendships and rivalries formed throughout the day in which tennis was the true winner.

Wadebridge came out as the champions with Bude in second place and Launceston third.

The next lot of competitions will be held over the Easter break which each club hosting an event which is open to all UK entrants.

The summer term is a great time to get involved with the club’s offering coaching, competition, club nights, club teams, drop-in sessions for all ages, social nights and additional use of the courts through membership which offers additional benefits such as an opportunity to gain access to Wimbledon tickets.

On a final note, my many thanks to both clubs’, committee members, players and parents for helping me become Cornwall Coach of the Year for 2018 — an award that that is as much for them as it is for me.
