BUDE man Kelvin Neil ran a massive 31 miles on his 31st birthday, through blistering cold and quagmires of mud, in order to raise money and awareness for Cerenety Farm Animal Rescue.

Despite a starting temperature of -3 degrees, mud up to his ankles and a blockade of cattle, Kelvin battled on from Hatherleigh to Bude to finish his run in just over six hours. He had cycle support from Cornwall Councillor for Bude South Nigel Pearce, whose constant stream of encouragement and banter meant the difference between failure and success.
