LIFTON’S Finley Arscott has been accepted as a wildcard to race in this weekend’s British Superbike Championship at Donington Park (October 4 to 6).
Teenage racer Finley is gearing up for the ride at the Bennetts British Superbike Championship in the Junior Supersport Class on his Kawasaki Ninja 400.
The 17-year-old took up the sport 18 months ago as a novice, and is currently racing in the Thundersport Championship in the Superteens category in races held all over the UK. Recently Finley has been getting regular top five finishes, with chances of podiums and wins on their way, which has taken many people by surprise considering the short time he has been racing.
Last year due to exams, Finley only competed in five rounds of Thundersport and one round at North Gloucestershire Racing, finishing on average in 12th position out of 20 riders. This year he has improved to finish in sixth position with his best result last weekend at Cadwell Park, Lincolnshire where he finished fourth, just shy of the podium.
In the North Gloucestershire Championship, Finley achieved his first podiums in August, winning two third place trophies at Anglesey.
Next year Finley will continue racing in the Superteens, with sights of winning the championship. He will also be looking at competing in more British Superbike meetings.
He is currently supported by LTB Blinds and Curtains, Hogs Bottom Garden Delights, Blackburn Metals, Tinhay Building Supplies and Steve Hooper SmH Construction.
He wishes to thank all his supporters, friends and family for continued support for his ambition to progress in his career, especially his dad Paul and George Northam for their consistent hard work throughout the season making sure the bike is always safe for each race.
His last Thundersport round is at Oulton Park, Cheshire on October 19, where Finley has the potential to finish the season in sixth in the championship.
