Upper Tamar Lake Sailing Club race report — May 24

Sailboat 6

THE holiday weekend and a dank, misty morning kept the fleet down to eight boats — two Lasers, two Bosuns and four Toppers.

Course setting was complicated by the disappearance of West White buoy.

Jane Anderson was first away with James Pollard on her tail and the two Lasers soon pulled out a lead followed by the two Bosuns and then the Toppers with Nathan Pollard leading.

The main action was among the Toppers which stretched out and closed up without changing order. The Bosuns changed places at the end of lap 2 when Adam Hilton had to retrace his steps to round a missed buoy.

1. J Anderson (Laser Radial)

2. J Pollard (LaserRadial)

3. N Pollard (Topper)

4. V Duncalf (Topper)

5. T Tobias, E Tucker (Bosun)

6. A Hilton, J Dabbs (Bosun)

7. J Chadney (Topper)

8. J Duncalf (Topper)

Commodore 4

WITH the mist closing in after lunch and the top of the lake fast disappearing, eight boats again lined up for the start although Sue Murray and John Savage had replaced Adam Hilton and James Pollard.

Jane Chadney just inched first at the start but incurred a 720 degree penalty and rejoined at the rear.

Emerging from the west Sue Murray had established a lead from Jane Anderson and then Vicki Duncalf with the rest spoiling each other's wind in a tight knot behind.

The Lasers had established a big gap by the end of the lap with Jane just besting Sue and John Savage's Solo being the next over the line, a position John held until the end, only to be demoted by the cruel handicap.

Of the Toppers, Nathan just led from Vicki Duncalf with Jane Chadney and John Duncalf following. The order remained the same throughout the race.

1. J Anderson (Laser Radial)

2. S Murray (Laser Radial)

3. N Pollard (Topper)

4. V Duncalf (Topper)

5. J Savage (Solo)

6. J Chadney (Topper)

7. J Duncalf (Topper)

8. T Tobias, E Tucker (Bosun)
