Launceston 17
Dorking 17
IT WAS a dramatic afternoon of rugby for the Cornish All Blacks, who had to settle for a draw after Dorking took a late converted try.
But the home side were fortunate to hold on to the 17-all result after receiving a red and yellow card in quick succession, forcing them down to 13 men.
The All Blacks started well. They put the first points on the board with a penalty, kicked by Matt Shepherd a few minutes in. There were a couple of chances for the side to score further, but they were held back by the Dorking defence.
A penalty try, awarded by referee Paul Kimber in the 21st minute, was a welcome reward for the Launceston side, particularly the forwards. Shepherd made the conversion and this put the home side 10 points in front.
The All Blacks continued to play with conviction but Dorking were back in the game. A penalty, kicked by Fraser Macdonald was followed not long after by a converted try, scored by Matthew Higgins.
At half time, the score was 10 apiece.
