FORMER Launceston man Bernie Verrills is asking for sponsorship support, as he prepares to tackle the 2013 Trans Andes Challenge, a six day mountain bike enduro, in January in aid of Help for Heroes.

The South American held race starts on January 21 and ends on January 26 in Patagonia, near Chile.

Bernie is self funding himself to compete in the event, but is registered with Help for Heroes to raise sponsorship on the charity's behalf, with his aim being to top £1,000.
